In the name of tradition, a buffalo fight was organized in the Cantt area of Bareilly. An attempt was made to directly label this case of cruelty as a religious event. On the other hand, even after receiving the information, the responsible officers continued to shy away from taking direct action. This happened when People for Animals (PFA), an organization working against violence and cruelty to animals, complained about it to the police and administration officials.
A video surfaced on the occasion of Govardhan Puja on Saturday. It can be seen how buffaloes are being surrounded from all sides with sticks and being forced to fight among themselves. The crowd present is making a lot of noise which is clearly a reflection of their joy.
When the buffaloes got injured, they were beaten and separated. The organizers said that all this is a tradition, which has been going on for many years. He claims that no buffalo has been injured in this. PFA workers say that sometimes even the ribs of animals get broken in this fight. He becomes close to death.
